Medsan is the art of medicine, in a Japanese mood. Under this signature, William San weaves human anatomy into the aesthetics of Japan, with one wager: to make the human body beautiful.
A brain takes the shape of an Imari porcelain bowl veined with gold, an eye becomes a koi pond, a jaw is swept into Hokusai’s waves, a spine swims upstream like a carp. This work speaks first to those who heal, and to those learning how.
